Temperature and Pressure Sensing Insole for Diabetics

An early detection for Diabetic Foot Ulcerations and Infections:

There are currently 34.2 million American adults with Diabetes, and 88 million with Pre-Diabetes. This costs the U.S. over $327,000,000,000 per year in healthcare costs. Diabetic Foot Ulcers (DFUs) are among the most devastating and costly sequelae of diabetes. (>$15,000,000,000 per year).

The Temperature and Pressure Sensing Insole for Diabetics: By incorporating temperature and pressure sensors into the insoles of Diabetic patient’s shoes who are experiencing peripheral neuropathy, the proposed technology can detect pre-ulcer conditions five weeks prior to ulcer formation. The insole would also provide cushioning to reduce the pressure, adding support for the feet, and preventing further damage to patient’s health, as well as prevent extreme measures such as amputation of limbs.

Design: Thermistors will be added to the key pressure points in the insole to take temperature and pressure measurements. Temperature and pressure differences over time and between both feet will be compared to determine differences and a possible ulceration/infection. This data can be sent to the patient and the physician using Bluetooth and Wi-Fi technology, giving them an earlier warning, and possibly preventing an infection, amputation, and extended hospital stays.

Shoe Sensor Fitness Insole

The Shoe Sensor Fitness Insole is a patented approach to measuring power generated during activities such as running and walking:

Applications:

1) Enhanced solution for monitoring fitness, enhancing athletic performance, and everyday activity (Running, cross-training, walking, etc…).

2) Enhanced solution for Podiatry, Physical Rehab, and Fall-Risk patients. The ability to measure foot power, not just steps and stride, can be combined with software algorithms to measure form, fatigue, force, and the rate of exertion, making it easier to protect individuals from injury and improve their performance.

TKR Smart Knee Replacement Implantable Insert

Improves Fit, Reduces Surgical Time, Maximizes Patient Benefits, and Patient Experience:

There were over 1,000,000 Total Knee Replacement (TKR) surgeries in the U.S. in 2020.

The TKR Implantable Insert is a patented, blue tooth/wireless technology, which specifically (and automatically) can be precisely fitted for each individual patient.

The TKR Smart Knee Implant has built-in sensors that can monitor how much pressure is being put on the implant so doctors can have a clearer understanding of how much activity is negatively affecting the implant.
